Actor Hudson Williams made his runway debut at Milan Fashion Week this week, opening Dsquared2’s Fall Winter 2026 show in a role that carried more responsibility than surface appeal. He was positioned at the front of the show, setting its tone before the collection had properly begun.

Williams, who gained wider recognition through recent television work, was an intentional choice for Dsquared2’s founders, Dean and Dan Caten. Like the designers, he is Canadian, and the show drew heavily from winter sport, cold-weather utility, and performance-driven clothing. His casting reflected that shared background, aligning personal identity with the collection’s practical references rather than relying on celebrity visibility alone.

The Milan venue was staged as a winter environment, with snow underfoot and styling cues drawn from alpine and ice sports. Williams appeared in a layered look combining denim with technical outerwear and heavy footwear designed for cold conditions. The outfit referenced hockey and ski culture without tipping into pastiche, reinforcing the collection’s emphasis on wearability and structure. His walk was controlled and direct, keeping focus on the clothes rather than the occasion.

The appearance followed a period of increased public visibility for Williams, including recent red carpet appearances alongside his co-star, which had already drawn attention from fashion houses. His presence in Milan confirmed that interest had moved beyond front-row attendance and into direct participation.

Response came almost immediately. Images of the opening walk circulated widely across social platforms and fashion media, becoming one of the most discussed moments from the show. The decision prompted renewed discussion around how brands are using actors on the runway, particularly when casting is tied to a collection’s narrative rather than online reach.

What distinguished this debut was its clarity. Williams was not styled as a distraction or treated as a talking point separate from the clothes. He functioned as part of the show’s logic, reinforcing its references and grounding its visua‏l direction. At a time when celebrity appearances on runways often feel detached from the collections they introduce, Dsquared2 kept the focus on alignment between casting and concept.

Whether this marks the start of a longer relationship between Williams and the fashion industry remains open. What his Milan debut demonstrated, however, was a shift from exposure to placement. By opening the show, he was given responsibility rather than prominence, a distinction that carries weight in fashion.

Serena Williams - Instagram

For nearly four years, Serena Williams remained away from competitive tennis. Discussions about her career focused on her achievements, her impact on women’s tennis and her place among the sport’s greatest players.

That changed on Monday when Williams confirmed she is returning to professional tennis, ending months of speculation about her future in the sport.

Williams has announced that she will compete at the Queen’s Club Championships in London later this month. The 44-year-old is set to play in the doubles competition through a wildcard entry, marking her first professional appearance since her farewell run at the 2022 US Open. Reports indicate she will partner with rising Canadian player Victoria Mboko, one of the tour’s emerging talents.

The announcement follows Williams’ return to the anti-doping testing programme, a requirement for players planning to compete professionally. Training sessions with current players and activity on social media had fuelled speculation about a possible return.

Queen’s Club will provide Williams with an opportunity to compete during the grass-court season ahead of Wimbledon, where she enjoyed some of the most successful years of her career. Williams won seven Wimbledon singles titles and remains one of the tournament’s most successful champions.

The timing of her return comes as women’s tennis continues to be shaped by a new generation of established champions and rising players, many of whom grew up watching Williams compete.

The immediate focus remains on doubles competition at Queen’s Club, but her participation has also prompted discussion about a potential appearance at Wimbledon, which begins only weeks later.

Williams’ record in the sport remains remarkable. She won 23 Grand Slam singles titles, the most by any woman in the Open Era, and spent more than 300 weeks as world number one. Her influence has extended beyond the court through her business ventures and advocacy work.

A return to professional tennis after several years away will present challenges. The modern game is highly competitive, with a deep field of players competing at the highest level. Williams will need to adapt to opponents who have established themselves during her absence while managing the physical demands of elite competition.

Her return has generated significant interest across the tennis world. For Queen’s Club, the announcement brings additional attention to a key event in the grass-court calendar. For fans, it offers the opportunity to see one of the sport’s most successful players compete once again.

Four years ago, Williams stepped away from competition while describing the move as an evolution rather than a retirement. The distinction attracted attention at the time and has taken on renewed significance following her decision to return.

Serena Williams is set to make her return at Queen’s Club later this month, adding another chapter to one of tennis’s most celebrated careers.
