Ariana Grande Steps Back From West End Debut Due to Health Concerns

Ariana Grande has withdrawn from her planned West End debut, putting her first major London stage role on hold as she plans to take a break from public appearances after months of public discussion about her appearance.

The Grammy-winning singer and actress had been due to star alongside Jonathan Bailey in a new London revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George at the Barbican Theatre in 2027. The production would have marked Grande’s West End debut, returning her to the musical theatre roots that launched her career before she became a global pop star and actress.

The show’s producers confirmed that Grande would no longer be part of the production and said they fully support her decision. A replacement has not yet been announced, while the revival is expected to go ahead as scheduled.

According to her representatives, Grande intends to take a break from public appearances after completing her Eternal Sunshine Tour, which concludes in London on 1 September. The break follows an intensive period of touring and continued public discussion about her appearance.

The announcement comes after weeks of online conversation following the release of the music video for her latest single from the album Petal.
