Television‘s biggest stars and series are officially in the running for this year’s Emmy Awards after the Television Academy unveiled the nominations for the 78th Primetime Emmy Awards.
HBO’s The Pitt leads the field with 25 nominations, making it the most recognised programme this year. Close behind is Hacks, which earned 24 nominations and set a new record for the highest number of nominations received by a comedy series in a single year.

Apple TV+ also enjoyed a standout year, with Widow’s Bay collecting 19 nominations and Pluribus securing 18. The results underline the growing competition among streaming platforms, with established hits and newer productions sharing the spotlight.
Several returning favourites are back in contention across the major categories. Abbott Elementary, Slow Horses, The Bear, Only Murders in the Building, The Diplomat and Shrinking all received nominations, while a number of first-time contenders also made a strong impression with Emmy voters.

The Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series category features Beef, The Beast in Me, All Her Fault and Love Story. Oscar Isaac, Claire Danes and Sarah Snook are among the performers recognised for their work in limited series.
This year’s nominations also brought a few notable milestones. David Attenborough became the oldest Emmy nominee at the age of 100, while Dancing With the Stars returned to the Outstanding Reality Competition category for the first time in 10 years. Meanwhile, Stranger Things received little recognition in the major categories despite its popularity.
