Khloé Kardashian has publicly revisited difficult periods of her life before, but her latest reflection on her involvement in Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom shows she is reconsidering how much of that experience she is willing to revisit and how her story is told.

In recent comments on her podcast, Khloé in Wonder Land, Kardashian said she now regrets appearing in the documentary centred on her ex-husband, Lamar Odom. Her participation, she explained, was not for publicity or payment, but a personal request. According to multiple magazine reports, she joined the project as a favour, expecting a balanced account. She says that expectation was not met.

The documentary revisits Odom’s 2015 overdose, an incident that nearly killed him and required months of recovery. At the time, Kardashian paused their divorce proceedings to oversee medical decisions and support his rehabilitation, which remains one of the most scrutinised periods of her life.

Appearing in the film required her to revisit that period in detail. Kardashian has said she was initially hesitant because of the emotional impact, but agreed after being assured the portrayal would be fair.

Instead, what followed after the documentary’s release changed her view of the project.

Kardashian’s frustration centres not just on the documentary itself, but also on Odom’s comments after its release. In interviews and remarks, he reportedly contradicted aspects of her account, particularly her role in his recovery, while crediting faith more than those around him for his survival.

For Kardashian, she said this went beyond a difference in perspective. She described feeling misrepresented and accused of dishonesty. She also pushed back against any suggestion that she exaggerated her involvement, calling the implication “crazy.”

Tension increased after claims in the documentary, including Odom’s suggestion that their marriage may have been influenced by fame. Kardashian has rejected that narrative, calling it inaccurate and offensive.

Her comments focus on regret tied to trust. She said she feels “dumb” and “played,” showing not just disappointment in the final product, but in the process that led to her involvement.

Her decision to take part without financial compensation reinforces this. She said her involvement was not transactional; it was personal. That, in her view, made the outcome difficult to accept.

She also described a pattern of support she gave privately later being questioned in public. Kardashian has pointed out that Odom had previously credited her for standing by him during his recovery, making the current narrative shift feel inconsistent and, in her words, disrespectful.

The renewed tension adds another layer to a relationship that has long unfolded in the public eye. Kardashian and Odom married in 2009 after a brief courtship and later divorced in 2016 following years marked by addiction struggles and separation.

Their story has been documented across reality television, interviews and now a feature-length documentary. What stands out now is Kardashian’s willingness to question her decision to take part.

Kardashian’s response points to an ongoing issue in celebrity storytelling. Documentaries aim to provide detail, but they also rely on different accounts, often leading to conflicting versions of the same events.

For Kardashian, the experience shows she has reconsidered that trade-off. Public attention was not new, but how her role was presented is what turned participation into regret.

Her comments indicate she may set stricter boundaries, particularly when revisiting moments with long-term emotional impact.
