When The Four Seasons arrived on Netflix in 2025, it quickly became one of the platform’s most discussed comedy dramas. The series focused on middle-aged friendships, strained marriages and the tension that builds when long-term relationships begin to change.
Created by Tina Fey alongside Lang Fisher and Tracey Wigfield, the Netflix adaptation reworked the 1981 film by Alan Alda into an eight-episode series following three longtime couples through four seasonal holidays.

Netflix has now confirmed that the series will return for Season 2 following the success of its debut season.
Season 1 ended with a major shift for the group after Nick’s sudden death in a car accident and the revelation that Ginny was pregnant. Rather than tying the story up neatly, the finale left several relationships unsettled heading into the next season.
Reports surrounding the new season suggest the series will continue its holiday format, with the group travelling to locations including Italy, the Jersey Shore and upstate New York.
Part of the show’s appeal was its focus on familiar relationship pressures rather than exaggerated television drama. The series explored emotional distance in marriages, changing friendships and the difficulty of maintaining close connections over time.
Online reaction to the renewal was divided. Some viewers felt the first season worked well as a standalone story, while others believed the unresolved ending naturally opened the door for another season.

Netflix also reported strong viewership numbers after release, with the series reaching the top of the platform’s English-language TV chart during its first two weeks.
Season 2 is expected to continue exploring how the group adjusts after Nick’s death, while Ginny’s pregnancy adds another complication to an already strained dynamic. The new episodes will likely focus on whether the friendships at the centre of the series can survive the changes taking place around them.
